England--South

In the Cotswold's

The Cotswold's are that sweep of rounded hill and valleys lying between the Midland vales and the south-west of England. A green baize tableland , with jutting prows and pocket coombes, chequered  with woodlands and  dry stone walls.
Man in the landscape could well be the theme of this walk. The Cotswolds have no great wilderness, no raw mountains or trackless moorland; it is not a countryside that threatens, but rather one that welcomes with a smile. Man has lived here in harmony with nature for a long time.
On  our walks we follow parts of  the Cotswold Way  long distance footpath to take tea in the splendid Georgian city of Bath , visit ancient Roman Villas, pass by  Neolithic long burrows and flower bedecked thatched  cottages. We visit ancient Inns & historic houses, the  classic Cotswold village of Castle Combe with its mellow limestone cottages and walk through the farms the Saxon field systems and the ancient hill forts that bespeckle the region

A Cotswold stile

Cornwall.

The Lizard and Lands End

Cornwall is Britain's most south westerly point jutting out a considerable way into the Atlantic Ocean - and consequently the mildest part of the United Kingdom. It is in fact a peninsula surrounded by sea on three sides. It's fourth border, the Tamar River, has for thousands of years presented a formidable barrier to "would be attackers ", leaving Cornwall decidedly Celtic in character.
Our hotel  base is on  The Lizard the  most southerly finger of land in Britain. From here we explore the sheltered inlets of Frenchman's Creek and Gillan Creek that wind their way inland towards peaceful Cornish villages such as Mannaccan and St Keverne. We follow the coastal path past remote coves with golden sand and azure blue sea. We stop for lunch in quaint Inns with mystical names like Trengily Wartha and Helzerphron, pass by the ancient fishing havens of Mullion and Cadgwith. We wander through ancient Celtic field systems to visit the inland villages of Gweek and Treverva. Finally we walk the Atlantic cliff tops from Porthcurno to England's final bastion against the Atlantic Ocean, Lands End and onwards to Sennen Cove and Whitesand Bay.
